Gus MacFarlane, Founding Partner

Gus has more than 15 years of experience of helping clients enhance their sustainability performance – and manage their non-financial risks and opportunities.

This includes a focus on high impact sectors and higher-risk operating environments, where ESG factors – and associated stakeholder relationships – can have a material impact on value creation, protection and destruction. Activities range from corporate-level sustainability strategy and reporting through to on-the-ground risk / impact assessment and stakeholder engagement.  This includes work in West, Central and Southern-Africa, the Americas, Australasia, East and South-East Asia and Europe.

Gus studied at the University of Edinburgh and the University of St. Andrews, trained as a solicitor at Clyde & Co in the City of London and completed a stage at the European Commission. He forged the rest of his career at Verisk Maplecroft, where he was a Vice President (consulting) and Head of Extractives.
