ESG risk assessment and due diligence

We carry out risk assessments and due diligence across multiple sectors and jurisdictions, with a focus on higher-risk, higher-reward companies, assets and opportunities. We help clients better understand and manage ESG impacts, risks and opportunities associated with their operations, projects, investments and counterparties – as well as the associated strategic, operational, financial, regulatory and reputational implications.

Our offering includes:

• Strategic, corporate-level ESG analysis through to in-depth, field-work based evaluations of investments and projects
• Application of structured assessment processes including conventional likelihood / severity assessments, integrated impact / risk analysis and more advanced technical risk analysis (e.g. bow tie, etc.)
• Scenario analysis, including changes in the operating environment, project lifecycle and stakeholder landscape
• Evaluation of the degree to which issues are already being effectively identified, assessed and managed – including benchmarking against:
  • External frameworks and standards (e.g. EU CSDDD, IFC Performance Standards, UN Guiding Principles, OECD Due Diligence Guidance, ICMM, IPIECA, SA8000, etc.)
  • Sector standards (e.g. UNPRI, Equator Principles, ICMM, IPIECA, etc.)

• Development of risk management action plans to enhance risk / impact management proficiency – plus implementation, monitoring and assurance support
