Human rights impact assessment
We have been helping clients navigate the human rights space since before the codification of their obligations under the UN Guiding Principles (as well as the implementation of the CSDDD). This includes the translation of internationally-defined human rights obligations into concrete, positive action – as well as the addressing of hard-to-manage ‘dilemmas’ and the delivery of impactful stakeholder assurance.
Our offering includes:
- Benchmarking of clients’ management systems – in the context of best practice, human rights impact assessment (HRIA) outcomes, reporting requirements, ESG investor / finance provider criteria, benchmarking frameworks and regulatory requirements
- Support for the development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of corporate-level human rights strategies
- Structured HRIAs at corporate-, business unit- and asset-level – using rights-driven, quantitative HRIA methodologies to identify, map and prioritise actual / potential impacts across organisations and value chains
- In-depth, site-level HRIA fieldwork, including the direct engagement of rightsholders, site inspections, perception analysis and the assessment of positive impacts
- Development – with clients – of detailed, cross-disciplinary HRIA action plans to avoid, mitigate and / or remediate high-priority impacts
- External reporting support to deliver assurance to key value chain partners and regulators
